ACID PHOSPHATASE TOTAL (ACP)

In the presence of progressive and metastasizing prostate carcinoma, the total acid phosphatase levels are found to be increasing. This increase is dependent on the stage of the disease. Increased levels are also found in Gaucher's disease, Niemann pick disease, 1-2 days post prostate surgery, prostatitis, prostate infarction, biopsy or manipulation.
