80 % of the total immunoglobulins in serums are found in IgA. Polyclonal immunoglobulin production has a noticeable elevation whereas multiple myeloma takes place due to monoclonal elevation. Such evaluations are useful for detecting and monitoring the monoclonal gammopathies and immune deficiencies.
