This test is used for screening recent or past exposure to Mycoplasma pneumonia. Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a vital respiratory tract pathogen accounting for about 20% of all cases of Pneumonia. It is common in children and adults & is associated with pneumonia, pharyngitis, tracheobronchitis, and inflammation of the tympanic membrane. Positive IgM results signal a recent infection.
