URINE FOR VMA(24HRS)
The increased level of VMA along with other catecholamine metabolites mean there is a catecholamine-producing tumor such as Neuroblastoma. The levels of VMA also find application while monitoring the treatment of the patients. The high levels mean there is a chance of Pheochromocytoma but doesn't confirm it.
How to prepare for the test?
Strictly avoid Theophylline, chocolate, vanilla, banana, alcoholic beverages, tea/coffee, tobacco and strenuous exercise at least 72 hours before and during specimen collection.
