RENIN ACTIVITY

Juxtaglomerular cells release renin which is a proteolytic enzyme. A substrate is spilled by this enzyme to produce angiotensin I, which produces angiotensin II further. Numerous conditions can lead to overproduction of aldosterone. Due to its renin and aldosterone's close relation, they are usually tested together to find out the cause of an abnormal aldosterone.
