PROTEIN S

Protein S is an anticoagulant. Any deficiency of Protein S will lead to the formation of a blood clot. The normal amount of protein S helps to determine the normal functioning of the blood clotting process.


How to prepare for the test?

The patient is advised not to eat anything for 12 hours before the test. He is also advised to stop taking the Heparin for a day and oral anticoagulants for a week before the test sample is collected. The physician should be consulted before stopping the medicines.
