PARVOVIRUS B19 ANTIBODY IgM

This test is used for serologic detection of recent or past parvovirus B19 infection. Parvovirus B19 causes common childhood illness called the Fifth disease (Erythema infectiosum). Parvovirus B19 replicates in erythroid progenitor cells and can result in severe anaemia, systematic manifestation involving the heart, nervous system and liver. The antibodies appear soon after the onset of illness and peak within 30 days.
