OLIGOCLONAL BANDS- (CSF)

A gold standard technique to diagnose multiple sclerosis is isoelectric focusing. 90 percent of patients tend to have oligoclonal. In order to distinguish between production of oligoclonal bands from local production in CNS, Serum and CSF tests should be carried out. Conditions where oligoclonal bands are inflammatory polyneuropathy, brain tumor, CNS lupus and subacute sclerosing.
