NICKEL

Patients undergoing renal dialysis is observed with hyperkalemia. Nickel reaction causes allergy and skin sensitivity. The specimen used to determine nickel exposure is 24 hour urine.


How to prepare for the test?

Mineral supplements should be avoided 3 days prior to the collection of specimen and specimen should not be collected for 96 hours if gadolinium or iodine containing contrast media administers. Only specified containers from LPL should be used.
