METANEPHRINE FREE
This assay is used to diagnose or rule out a rare extra-adrenal tumour called paraganglioma or a rare adrenal tumour called pheochromocytoma. Normetanephrine and Metanephrine are 3-Methoxy metabolites of Normetanephrine and Epinephrine. These are further metabolized to VMA. This test may be used as a first or second order screening test.
How to prepare for the test?
Strictly avoid Alpha-Methyldopa, Buspirone, Codeine, Isoproterenol metabolite, Mandelamine, L-dopa, Parcetamol, Metoclopramide, pepper, alcoholic beverages, tea/coffee, tobacco and strenuous exercise at least 72 hours before and during specimen collection.
