LYSOZYME

This test is used to confirm marked increase in the monocyte or granulocyte pools as in monocytic or granulocytic leukemias, malignant histiocytosis, and myeloproliferative disorders. Lysozyme is a bacteriolytic enzyme present in some hematopoietic cells and primarily in granulocytes, monocytes & histiocytes. Lysozyme in the plasma results from the degradation from granulocytes and monocytes.
