IGF- BP3 ( INSULIN GROWTH FACTOR - BINDING PROTEIN 3)

IGFP3 acts as a biological marker for levels of growth hormone (GH) in the blood. Low IGFBP-3 levels indicate Growth hormone (GH) deficiency. High levels indicate an overproduction of human growth hormone (GH) or excessive recombinant human Growth hormone (rhGH) injections. This assay is useful for diagnosing adult GH deficiency and growth disorders. It is also used to monitor rhGH treatment. IGFP3 testing has used adjunct to IGF-1 testing for higher accuracy & diagnosis and followup of Acromegaly & Gigantism.
