ASPERGILLUS ANTIGEN-GALACTOMANNAN ASSAY

Aspergillus antigen galactomannan test is used to test GM or Galactomannan, a polysaccharide component of the Aspergillus cell wall. This is released from the growing hyphae and the serum galactomannan can be detected between a week or two before any symptoms become apparent. Early detection is beneficial as it reduces the time of executing antifungal therapy.
