If a person shows symptoms of TB or nontuberculous mycobacterial infections such as chronic cough, weight loss, fever etc. or is at a high risk of suffering from a disease, this test is used. It can also be used if there is an infection of the skin or any body part due to mycobacteria or if the person is undergoing TB treatment.
