The test is used for evaluating men who show symptoms of hypogonadism such as loss of libido, erectile dysfunction, gynecomastia and infertility. In the case of boys, the test can be used to evaluate the irregular onset of puberty. This test is also useful in monitoring anti-androgen therapy in prostate cancer, precocious puberty and male to female transgender disorders. The test is also helpful in evaluating infants who have ambiguous genitalia or virilization. Diagnosis of androgen secreting tumours can also be detected with the help of this test.
